And it's after the harvest. Of apricots, of course.
With plums we have just started.
We are going to tell you about this year's harvest.

The apricot harvest began this year 14 days later than usual, namely July 12, 2021. Early varieties froze, with a few exceptions, and the main part of the harvest was Velkopavlovická variety. On August 2, 2021, we ended the harvest with the Bergeron variety. The biggest losses came at the time of flowering at the beginning of April due to frosts and also the weather was not very pollinating - cold, windy and rain did not attract enough bees. From the expected 80 tons, we finally harvested less than 12.
You can look forward to Starovická apricot brandy from this year's harvest next year, now after distillation it will still lie in barrels for a while.

It is with great pleasure that we can introduce you two fresh novelties in the liqueur line called elixirs, namely the Elixir from Rosehips and the Elixir from Honey and Slivovitz.

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image="6424" img_size="large" alignment="center"][vc_column_text]

It is with great pleasure that we can introduce you two fresh novelties in the liqueur line called elixirs, namely the Elixir from Rosehips and the Elixir from Honey and Slivovitz.

Rosehip elixir is a fine liqueur with a pleasant sweet and sour refreshing taste and strong color. It is made from dried rosehips, which are chopped to enhance the taste and then macerated in water. The resulting extract is mixed with quality alcohol and sweetened. Thanks to gentle processing, the liqueur retains its characteristic taste
and the smell.
Rosehip fruits have long been a part of folk medicine and Czech cuisine. Definitely worth trying in the form of an elixir.

The Elixir of honey and plum brandy combines the taste of plum brandy and the beneficial effects of linden honey. The natural honey aroma with a light fruity tone has clear plum echoes, in which we can smell prunes, caramel and linden blossom. Long-term maceration of honey gives the plum brandy a golden color, delicate taste and honey aroma.
The Elixir of Honey and Slivovice combines Wallachia with its traditions and connection with nature. Linden honey is considered by beekeepers to be of the highest quality and has been shown to have a positive effect on the human body.

For summer refreshment, we recommend mixing the Elixir of honey and plum brandy with ginger lemonade, ice and a slice of lemon and a drink called Bees is ready!

Both elixir novelties are available in the R. JELÍNEK store in Vizovice, in the Slivovice Museum in Prague or you can easily buy them in our e-shop.

Cheers!

The event attracted 407 attendees, of which 197 were members of the Jelínek Slivovitz Appreciation Society, who celebrated 30 years of freedom and democracy.

The event kicked off with a communal jingling of keys followed by a trip into the past thanks to historical costumes, photographs, and signs placed throughout the premises.

The traditional programme of the Hog-Feastincluded Society Members Without Borders, a game that has members of the Appreciation Society compete against each other to earn points and find the ‘hog’. The top three teams received lovely prizes as usual. The atmosphere in the Tasting Room was greatly enhanced by Čardáš cimbalom music, and many attendees came away with a nice memento after having their likeness drawn by popular caricature artists.

The Hog-Feast also included another traditional diversion, the Tour de Vizovická. This year, varieties harvested in 2018 were tasted. A total of 132 tasters took part and selected the Presenta variety of slivovitz as the best.

As is tradition, the event took place on the premises of the RUDOLF JELÍNEK distillery. This year’s theme was ‘The Place I Live’. Each contestant had to prepare a fancy cocktail containing at least 2 cl of 5-year-old Slivovitz Kosher.

The panel of judges was also composed of multiple nationalities – it included Jan Lindgren (Hotel Marski, Finland), Martina Peštová (Bar and Books, Czech Rep.), Michal Durňík (Black Angel's, Czech Rep.), Lukáš Vrábel (Cafe, Cocktail & Champagne, Slovakia).

Bartenders from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria, Poland, Switzerland, and Estonia flocked to Vizovice to compete in two bars. Two bartenders from each bar advanced to the final round of four contestants. Those were Stefan Haneder, Tomáš Zvolánek, Marek Vybíral, Štefan Gašparík. Among the fierce competition, Stefan Haneder (Acanto Cocktail, Austria) emerged victorious and earned the title of the European champion in fruit brandy cocktail mixing with his drink Golden Forest, which, in addition to the 5-year-old kosher slivovitz, also included Mozart Chocolate Dry liqueur, Monin Black Forest syrup, currant juice, and home-made foam. Second place was taken by Marek Vybíral (The Black Stuff, Czech Rep.) with his drink Mora; Tomáši Zvolánko with Slivkopolitan finished third. The Best Foreign Bartender award was given to Štefan Gašparík from Slovakia (Spirit Bar, Trnava) for his cocktail Dušenka. The Talent prize was awarded to Kamila Šturmová (American Bar in the Municipal House, Czech Rep.) for her drink Prague Sunset. The most innovative was judged to be the Pošichtovní cocktail by Jan Zlámaný (Le Valmont, Czech Rep.). The winner of the Best Technique award was Jíří Pácalt (Tretter’s New York Bar, Czech Rep.) with his drink Tiger Milk. The panel found the Baynan cocktail by Robert Gloss (Black Angel's, Czech Rep.) the most visually appealing.

During the day the contestants could take part in tastings of Gold Cock whiskey directly from the cask, or try some tea and cool drinks by Oxalis and Zázračná limonáda. In the Red Bull bar, all participants could try their hand at preparing the Rubycon cocktail as quickly as possible – in this discipline, Stefan Haneder triumphed with a time of 8.24 seconds. Workshops took place during the early evening, led by Tomáš Třeštík on the topic ‘Photography in the Bar’ and Petr Horák on ‘Bartenders on Social Networks’.

The day concluded with the Best Bar competition between Šnekoland (Rokytnice nad Jizerou), Hangár Bar (Prague), 7 hříchů (Brno) and Hemingway Bar (Nitra). Each bar offered its guests two drinks, and the Best Bar title went to Šnekoland.

The results of the World Slivovitz Cup were announced during the evening – the inaugural round of an annual online photography competition focused on cocktails made with the traditional R. JELÍNEK kosher slivovitz, also with the theme ‘The Place I Live’. In addition to the quality of the photograph itself, the recipe was also rated, as was social media presence and other marketing activities.

The winner was Jessie Ray Clasicas from the Philippines, who earned the most points for his social media presence and whose photograph was also rated as the best by the foremost Czech photographer Tomáš Třeštík. A total of 51 bartenders from 30 countries took part in the contest.

The event was sponsored with presentations and products by the companies Makro, Titan Tools, Zázračná limonáda, Red Bull, Starobrno, Crucial Detail, Kavovary.cz, Oxalis, Coca Cola, and Mattoni.
